Bring On the Debate: Why I'm Ready to Face Any Challenger, Any Time
Here's something that might surprise you: as of this posting, not a single organization has reached out to me about hosting a debate for this race. Not one. And I think voters deserve better than that, which is exactly why I made a video about it.

To be clear, I'm not just open to a debate, I'm actively encouraging one. I know the League of Women Voters of Westchester typically organizes debates in local races, usually closer to Election Day, which this year falls on November 3rd. But my invitation isn't limited to them. If there's a civic association, a community group, a church, a school PTA, or any organization in District 16 that wants to put together a debate before Election Day, I will show up, and I'll show up regardless of which side of the aisle you or your organization lean toward.
Why does this matter so much to me? Because a debate isn't really about the candidates, it's about the voters. It's easy to judge a candidate off a well-produced 30-second video clip or a five-minute appearance at a community event. It's much harder, and much more valuable, to actually sit and listen to someone explain their thinking in real time, unscripted, next to the person running against them.
I believe in the democratic republic we live in, and that means voters deserve the chance to actually see the people asking for their vote, side by side, answering the same hard questions. Give every candidate a fair shake, hear them out regardless of party, and then decide who you genuinely believe will represent you best. That's not a slogan, that's how this is supposed to work.
So if you're reading this and you represent an organization in District 16 that wants to host a debate, reach out. The invitation stands.
Dan D'Amico is running for Westchester County Legislature, District 16, representing Yonkers.
