My 3-Point Plan for District 16: Taxes, Infrastructure, and Housing

I don't believe in vague promises. I believe in specific commitments, things I will actually do when I'm sitting in that legislative chamber representing District 16.
Here is my three-point plan. It is grounded in what the Westchester County Board of Legislators actually has the power to do, because I believe you deserve a candidate who is honest about what county government controls and what it doesn't.
POINT 1: HOLD THE LINE ON THE COUNTY TAX LEVY
The Westchester County Board of Legislators votes every year on the county budget, and with it, the county portion of your property tax bill. The county slice represents roughly 17% of the total property tax burden for Yonkers families.
That may sound small, but on a bill, that's already crushing people, every percentage point matters. And the county budget is also the clearest expression of priorities: what does your government actually care about?
My commitment: I will vote against any county budget that raises the county tax levy without a corresponding, demonstrated reduction in costs or waste. I will push for an annual line-item review of county spending with full public transparency. And I will advocate loudly for county programs that reduce the property tax burden on homeowners, including senior tax relief initiatives and homestead exemption expansions.
POINT 2: MAKE DISTRICT 16 A PRIORITY IN COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT
The county capital budget funds major infrastructure projects across Westchester. County-maintained roads, drainage systems, and regional infrastructure investments all flow through that budget. District 16 is a dense, working-class urban district that has historically not received infrastructure investment proportionate to its needs.
My commitment: I will fight every year to ensure that District 16 receives a fair allocation of county capital infrastructure funding. I will demand accountability on flooding and drainage, a regional infrastructure issue that requires county-level coordination and investment. I will push for transparency on county road maintenance schedules, so residents know when their street is scheduled for attention. And I will work to secure county funding that can be paired with city and state dollars to fix the infrastructure problems that have gone unaddressed for too long.
POINT 3: DEMAND THAT COUNTY HOUSING POLICY WORKS FOR WORKING FAMILIES, NOT LUXURY DEVELOPERS
The county's Housing and Planning Committee shapes how Westchester grows. County affordable housing programs, planning approvals, and development incentives all send a signal about who county government is for. Right now, that signal is mixed at best.
My commitment:I will push for county affordable housing policy that has real teeth, not minimums that get waived or loopholes that developers exploit. I will demand that county development approvals and incentives prioritize mixed-income housing over luxury-only development, particularly here in Yonkers. I will advocate for full transparency on who receives county housing funds and whether those funds are actually producing affordable units. And I will use the full platform of the county legislature to shine a light on the relationship between campaign donations from developers and housing policy outcomes.
I will also push the county legislature to pull funding from the EV charging station program and redirect those taxpayer dollars into a real down payment assistance program for the residents of District 16. If county government is going to spend money, it should be spent helping working families build wealth, stability, and a future right here in our community.
The average renter in America has a net worth of roughly $10,000, while the average homeowner has a net worth of over $400,000. That gap matters. Homeownership is one of the most powerful tools for building generational wealth, creating stronger neighborhoods, and giving families a real stake in the future of their community.
Let’s make more homeowners in District 16.
The people of District 16 deserve housing policy that works for them, not just for politically connected developers. As someone who has spent over a decade in the real estate business serving this community, I will bring that knowledge, experience, and commitment to every vote.
THIS IS WHAT I'M RUNNING ON
Three issues. Three specific commitments. All grounded in what the county legislature actually has the power to do.
I'm Dan D'Amico, former FDNY firefighter, real estate professional, and community member. I'm running for Westchester County Legislator in District 16 because the families here deserve a representative who fights for them with everything he has.
I'd be honored to have your support.
