Westchester County Spent $45 Million on EV Chargers While Cutting Schools, Police, and Fire

After speaking with more than 3,000 residents across Yonkers, one message has been clear: people are worried about affordability, rising taxes, public safety, flooding, schools, and the cost of living.

Not one person has told me that EV charging stations are one of their top 10 concerns.

Yet Westchester County legislators supported spending $45 million on EV charging stations while critical services like schools, police, and fire saw funding cuts.

That tells us everything we need to know about the priorities in county government right now.

Yonkers Families Are Asking for Common Sense

Every day, I hear from hardworking families, homeowners, seniors, parents, small business owners, and residents who feel squeezed from every direction.

They are asking for relief.

They are asking why taxes keep going up.

They are asking why flooding still has not been fixed in parts of Yonkers.

They are asking why public safety, schools, and emergency services are not treated like the top priorities they should be.

What they are not asking for is more taxpayer money being spent on EV charging stations.

That does not mean people are against technology or progress. It means government has to know the difference between a want and a need.

Right now, Yonkers needs safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, better infrastructure, real flood mitigation, support for first responders, and responsible budgeting.

The County Budget Should Reflect the People’s Priorities

Budgets are more than numbers on a page. They are a statement of values.

When county government finds millions of dollars for EV charging stations while cutting funding from essential services, it sends the wrong message to taxpayers.

It tells families that their concerns are not being heard.

It tells police, fire, and school communities that they are expected to do more with less.

It tells Yonkers residents that county government is focused on political priorities instead of practical priorities.

That has to change.

I’m Running to Put Yonkers First

I am running for Westchester County Legislator in District 16 because Yonkers deserves a representative who listens to the people, not the political machine.

Over the course of this campaign, I have knocked on doors, met residents face to face, and listened to the real concerns impacting our neighborhoods.

The people of Yonkers are not asking for slogans. They are asking for results.

They want lower taxes.

They want safe streets.

They want support for police, fire, and emergency services.

They want schools that have the resources they need.

They want flooding addressed before the next storm damages another home, street, or neighborhood.

They want a county government that respects the taxpayer.

That is exactly what I will fight for.

We Need Fiscal Responsibility in Westchester County

Westchester is already one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Families are being crushed by property taxes, utility bills, inflation, and the overall cost of living.

At a time like this, county government should be focused on reducing the burden on taxpayers, not adding to it.

Every dollar spent by government comes from the people. That means every dollar should be treated with respect.

Before spending $45 million on EV charging stations, county legislators should have asked a simple question:

Is this what Yonkers families need most right now?

Based on the more than 3,000 conversations I have had with residents, the answer is no.

November 3rd Is Our Chance for Change

Yonkers deserves better.

Westchester County Legislative District 16 deserves a representative who will fight for common sense budgeting, lower taxes, safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, and better support for our first responders.

On November 3rd, the people of Yonkers will have a chance to choose a new direction.

I am asking for your vote so we can bring real accountability, fiscal responsibility, and people first leadership back to county government.

It is time to put Yonkers first.

It is time to put taxpayers first.

It is time for change.
