What I Learned From 10 Years Selling Homes in Yonkers and Why It's Why I'm Running

I've sat at a lot of kitchen tables in Yonkers.

As a real estate broker helping families buy and sell homes across Yonkers and Westchester County, you end up in people's most personal moments. The couple who finally saved enough for a down payment. The family that has to move because their landlord is converting to luxury and tripling the rent. The retiree who built their whole life in a neighborhood and can't afford to stay.

Over more than a decade in this business, I've seen every version of what the housing and tax crisis looks like for real families. Not in statistics. In faces, in conversations, in real decisions that real people had to make.

Here's what I know from being in that business:

The property tax burden in Yonkers is not sustainable. I have spoken to buyers who walked away from homes they loved because the property tax bills made the monthly payment unworkable. Not because the purchase price was too high. Because the taxes were. That's a Westchester County problem, and it's getting worse.

The rental market is being reshaped by luxury development, and working families are losing. Yonkers has seen a wave of new high-rise developments along the waterfront and throughout District 16. Some of those developments have minimal affordable units, and the ones that do often have income thresholds that still put them out of reach for the nurses, teachers, and tradespeople who make this city run.

Homeownership is the single most reliable path to building generational wealth. When families can't afford to buy and can't afford to stay when they rent, we are cutting off that path. We are making Westchester a place where only the wealthy get to put down roots.

I didn't run for office because I had a political career planned. I ran because after years of seeing this up close, I couldn't sit on the sidelines anymore.

I served as an FDNY firefighter because I believe in service, in showing up when people need you. This campaign is an extension of that. District 16 needs someone who understands this community not from a policy binder, but from the ground up. From the kitchen tables, from the closings, from the conversations with families who are fighting to stay.

That's who I am. That's why I'm running.
