Here Is My Promise to District 16. Hold Me to It.

Dan D'Amico | Candidate for Westchester County Legislator District 16

Politicians make promises during campaigns. Most of those promises quietly disappear after Election Day. I want to do something different. I want to make specific, public commitments that you can hold me to. Not vague statements about fighting for the community. Concrete things I will do, votes I will take, and standards I will hold myself to if you send me to White Plains as your county legislator.

On taxes: I will vote against any county budget that raises the property tax levy without a line-by-line accounting of every dollar of new spending and a demonstrated effort to find savings first. I will push for a comprehensive efficiency review of the county budget in my first term.

On flooding: I will file a formal request in my first month in office for a complete accounting of every flood mitigation project promised to District 16, the timeline it was promised on, and the current status. I will fight to direct county capital funds toward drainage and flood resilience in the Warburton corridor and other flood-affected areas.

On housing: I will oppose any county development incentive that directs taxpayer resources to luxury-only projects. I will advocate for a county down payment assistance program funded by redirecting low-priority spending. I will push for affordable housing requirements with real enforcement.

On public safety and schools: I will protect full funding for police, fire, and public education in every budget vote I take. These are non-negotiable.

On transparency: I will publish a public monthly update on what I am doing, what votes I am taking, and what I am fighting for. Not a press release. A real accounting.

On being present: I will show up in District 16 consistently, not just at election time. Precinct meetings, community events, knocking doors. I will be visible and accessible every month I am in office. I will also commit to doing town halls each year creating an open forum for my constituents to come and ask direct questions to see what's going on in the county.

These are not aspirations. They are commitments. If I fail to deliver on them, you will have this article to point to. That is the kind of representative I intend to be.
