Where Did $45 Million Go? Westchester's EV Charger Spending vs. Yonkers Housing Needs

Where did $45,000,000 go?

That's the question I'm asking in this week's video — and the answer should concern every taxpayer in Westchester County.

While families across Yonkers are getting squeezed by rising rents, luxury development, and a housing market that's increasingly out of reach, the county chose to put $45 million toward EV charging stations.

Meanwhile, that same $45 million could have funded a down payment assistance program — giving working families across Yonkers a real shot at homeownership, building equity, and putting down roots in the community they already call home.

This isn't about being against EVs or clean energy. It's about priorities. After speaking with more than 2,000 Yonkers residents, the message I hear over and over is the same: housing affordability is the issue. And yet the county's response was $45 million for charging infrastructure that benefits a small fraction of residents.
